How do you make an ice rink in your back-yard /

Don't.It will kill the grass where you have the ice.
We did this several years ago, and it took three years of seeding, and weeding to get it fixed!!

You just need flat ground to border it, usually with the flower border plastic edging found at the hardware store, then add water, about a quarter inch at a time. Let it freeze solid between fills, so the ice will be smooth. Check for errant sticks and twigs that can stick up. When it is 3-4 inches thick it is safe enough to play on.

First-off you need to find the best area that is level,next you have to layer the base with snow and pack it down evenly,then create a snow border around the perimeter to create a small berm and then add water in layers allowing it to set-up each time in order to freeze to create a layer of ice.Usually three times is suufficient.
