1) Everything u wear has to be made of synthetic fabric which does not absorb water. Absolutely NO COTTON! It will absorb ur sweat, & u will feel wet, cold & miserable. Wear a synthetic T-shirt & a fleece pullover for example. If u do not have ski pants, make sure to wear waterproof pants, since u will probably fall.
2) Warm hat & gloves r essential.
3) Socks (NOT cotton) r better when they r at least half-shin high. Wear only one pair, since ski boots r warm by default.
4) Check weather in advance & choose ur jacket accordingly. (do not, however, overdess if it is gonna be warm).
5) Snow refelects UV light, so make sure to apply sunscreen to any exposed skin (your face); wear UV-proof sunglasses or goggles.
Have fun!

l do not think the material of your socks matters that much, you do not need to buy special socks just for skiing if you do not want to. If you have decent snow pants then your feet wo not get wet. l usually wear two pairs cuz it seems like my feet are always cold, but a lot of people just wear one.

1- Wear a tutleneck or sweater, only wear 2 sweaters if you are 'cold-blooded'
2-Wear a coat, waterproof and warm, pockets are essential
3-Wear long underwear
4-Wear waterproof and ''light'' snowpants
5-Wear a beanie or snow cap, gloves or mittens, long socks, ski goggles (day/night), scarf or neck-warmer

GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
