l got them sharpened 5 months ago. Is that bad?

It really depends on how often u use ur skates. Hockey players usually get their skates sharpend a lot because of all the skating they do. Figure Skaters, probably once a year depending on what level of skating you're on. l got a new pair of figure skates in December, & skate 3 times a week at the most. If they slip, & ur blades do not keep steady in the ice anymore, then its time to get them sharpend. Five months is not bad at all. Sharpen ur skates as little as possible because it is hard to replace a blade. Hope l could help :)

if ur a figure sk8er a good sharpening should last for about 6 weeks if ur serious about it and skate at LEAST 5 days a week, 1-2 hours a day. l do not know about hockey sry.

First of all you can ask a teacher at your skating rink to tell u if u need them sharpened and after sixty hours of skating on them is the best time to get them sharpened
