l just got some new snow skiis mounted with bindings, they are atleast twice as heavy as my old pair.Is there an advantage to heavy skiis?

Maybe you're just not use to them yet. When was the last time you went sking?

It is better on ice but l think it might be only a little better on snow. It is always better to have heavier skies unless you are doing freestyle which l personally do not think you are doing (at least not right now)

Depends on the type of ski. Usually the newer skis are a little wider than older skis which makes them heavier. Also some types of skis have a thicker heavier core. Some Atomics have mounting plates for their bindings which also increases the weight.

Heavier skis usually are stiffer. Which helps them blast through crud and reduces chatter at speeds. l personally prefer a stiffer and sometimes heavier ski.
