Anže Kopitar (born August 24, 1987 in Jesenice, Slovenia) is a Slovenian professional ice hockey player. He was drafted in the first round, 11th overall, by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

According to the NHL is European Scouting Service, Kopitar was the number one European draft prospect in 2005; he played in the Swedish Elitserien for Södertälje SK, until he went to North America in 2006.

After attending Kings training camp, Kopitar made an official debut for LA Kings on September 19th at the preseason game against San Jose Sharks, netting one assist.

Kopitar made his NHL debut on October 6, 2006, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, against the Anaheim Ducks, becoming the first Slovenian-born player to play in the NHL. He scored two goals in his debut, a 4-3 loss. In his home debut at the Staples Center against the St. Louis Blues the next night, he had 3 assists, bringing him to a total of 5 points in his first two NHL games.
