bring a hat, gloves, wear pants and something layered, like a sweater of jacket. nothing too heavy because you will stay warm skating around. if you have knee pads, bring those just in case! my daughter took those lessons and she said the worst part was hurting her knees. good luck, have fun! :)

l figure skated from age six to fourteen so l know what im talking about when l say the ice is cold! But, figure skating is invigourating so u will get warm fast. Wear a button-up or zippup jacket over a longsleeve shirt so it will be easy to take off when u get warm. l also recommend thin gloves, especially if it is ur first lesson, because not only is the air cold, but u will be on the ground a lot. If u have a skating skirt & tights, that is great. But, if not, do not worry about it. Wear pants made out of a windbreaker material or sweatpants. These will be easier to move around in on the ice than jeans. l do not recommend a hat because u will just end up taking it off. Some people like to wear a helmet & kneepads. If u feel u need a helmet, go for it, but l doubt that u will fall on ur head. That almost never happens in skating. And kneepads r more of a bother than a help. They restrict ur movement too much, making it hard to skate. Have fun & good luck!

Wear a long sleeves shirt and a jacket with sweatpants. You should bring socks, gloves and a water bottle along as the air is cold and your mouth might feel dry after skating around. If you are a total beginner, you should go to the ice rink about half an hour before your lesson and try walking on the ice to get a feel of it.

Dress appropriately for exercise in cool weather - trousers, long sleeved shirt, a hoodie. l like to wear gloves. Wear thin socks - trouser socks, or nylons, or microfiber tights. You do not want to wear thick socks. You want to be able to feel the skates. Bring a bottle of water.

You will have a blast. Remember, we were ALL beginners once, so do not be shy out there. Enjoy!

l love skating! When l started, l saw a lot of people looking TACKY and not doing well.
-NEVER wear jeans
-If wearing a skort, no skirts, wear tights
-If you have skates bring a towel to get the snow off your blades
-If owning skates, bring soakers and guards (soakers are 10- 25 dollars same 4 guards)
-Bring a bag or suitcase ( l got a ZUCA 4 mine)

l did all this and l am in advanced level, been competing, synchro.

wear a sweatshirt or something equally warm. u probably do not need to worry about dressing in layers; since you're just starting out u wo not be moving enough to warm ur body up. for pants, wear something like sweats or track pants. do not wear jeans!! for ur feet, wear tights, or those knee-highs that r make of pantyhose material. the skates should feel snug on ur feet.

are u trying skating out for the first time? i'm assuming u will be using rented skates. l would hold off on buying skates until after you've skated enough to decide that u really like it, as skates can be very expensive.

here r two things u will want to remember: 1) bend ur knees, & 2) do not look down.
