l dont know how to turn or how to stop. any of the basics l need to know. HELP!!!!!!!!

Nothin to it but to do it! Just keep your knees bent, and flex your ankles. You will fall, you will hurt, but it is worth it once you get it!

Take lessons. a lot of people skip this step, thinking that it isnt necessary, but the opposite is true. Just how you have to walk before you can run, one must take lessons before they can just hit the slopes.

Once you've taken those lessons, practice, practice, and practice some more. repetition of skills (the ones you learned when taking lessons) is key!

OK, here u go:

stopping is simple enough. when on ur side, goofy or regular, simply shift ur weight so u turn with ur back facing UPHILL, then balance out. if unbalanced, fall backwards. do NOT fall forwards, while facing downhill. u can fall facing up hill on ur knees, but that is harder & could dislocate ur knee. it is important to know how to fall, but u do not need to fall in order to stop.

when turning, lean forward & put ur weight gently on one foot, depending on ur side preference. gravity will do the rest. for more sharper turns, catching some air by popping ur board up & twisting at the same time is the easiest way. it is more difficult than slowly shifting & easier to lose ur balance that way, but it is quicker.

The first tecnique for acctual boarding would be the ''floating leaf where u shift ur weight from side to side, so u kind of dip into a shallow ''U'' while boarding down, back & forth across the slope. this gives u more control, something beginners crave turning all the way onto ur side will increase speed, & will be barely controlled by leaning backward & forward while facing downhill, so that u tilt from side to side. This cuts a more squiggly path through the snow, but it slows u down a little more than just boarding straight down all the way.

Take a lesson: you will learn some good basic skills that you can build upon. So many people have bad habits that are self-taught or learned from friends. It is harder to fix bad form that it is to learn it right the first time. Take the time & spend the money for a lesson: it is realy worth it! l did not beleive it until l took some lessons and my riding improved dramaticlly.

to stop lean back on your heel edge hard. to turn you lean lightly on your toe or heel edge gently. using your toe edge will take some getting used to- take baby steps. your heel edge is easy to use, but if your a begginer dont use your toe edge a whole lot. just use it a little the first time then a little more the second time until you can use it just as well as your heel edge. then you can work on tricks and rails and riding switch but thats after the basics.
