l am looking for a cheap board, it can be used or whatever. Where could l look and what price range am l looking at? Also l have looked at some boards on ebay and it seems like many of the boards are being sold without the straps to put your boots in, is that normal?

Yes it is normal to buy them without the bindings/straps, that way you get the kind you want to use. If you have not been boarding before you can rent a board at any ski resort. That way you can see if you like it before actually buying a board & all the other gear that goes with it.

well it depends where u get it from & how much they will be selling it for.
have u ride a wave board? it is kind of similar riding a wave board & snowboarding. if its easy riding a wave board then it would be easy snowboarding.thats what my cousin told me.
straps to ur boots? do u mean bindings? if they dont have it with it, then u have to buy ur own bindings seperately..

Generally speaking, you're looking at a couple hundred dollars. You can get a low-end board new for 100-something, but so many teenagers grow out of their boards & put them on eBay, u should be able to find some good boards for a decent price.

Check that link that l posted & browse it. If u do not want the snowboard package, check for snowboards by themselves & check by price & then check ''under $200''. They have some pretty good boards--Forum & Palmer for example--for good prices. They also have newer, less established brands.

l would not spend money on a cheap board for just trying. cheap gear is usually cheap and not the best thing to start out with. many people make this mistake. better rent many different boards first! and if you really like it you will be able to choose a board that suits you best.

I'd say rent first. Make sure it is something u want to get into & spend money on.
After that, try buying a last years board from a shop, they usually discount them quite a bit.
As far as ebay.just make sure it is something thats going to fit ur size. Do not just buy any ol' board b/c it is cheap. You might end up with something that does not work for u & could end up taking away from the whole experience. Yeah, just the board is normal. But buying part of what u need is sometimes better than paying new for all of it. If u buy just a board, take it to a local shop & they should be more than happy to set u up with the rest.
For a board, should come up to about ur chin/nose.
Boots, make sure u heel does not lift in them, had a big problem with that myself.
Bindings, make sure ur boot fits in them without ur toes hanging too far off the edge, same with the heels, although the back of the binding should prevent that. Most bindings r adjustable.

Renting is cheap and rental shops are pros at getting you a good fit. Do not buy until you learn the sport and figure out your personal prefrences. You can also buy boots before a board. as a beginner, a good fitting comfortable pair of boots is more important than an expensive board.
After you learn how to snowboard it will be easy to find a good used snowboard you will like.
