They could put in something more people are interested in like they do not have a catagorey for runing! Or rachetball! Why is this?

Curling is actually big in Canada and Northern US.
Running is not really a sport.

Well, handball & curling r Olympic sports with a huge following. If handball is understood as the Olympic discipline (indoor, 7 in a team, goals) & not the other sport which l found, to my utter amazement, some English speaking countries call handball.
My country (Romania) is a handball country, so r the Scandinavian countries, Spain, Hungary, Korea & others.
Curling enjoys a huge following, since it is been broadcast on Eurosport.
Once & for all: the world does not end in the US nor r the taste & preferences of Americans the only ones that count!

It is good to see another curling fan on here; a lot of people just complain about this being a category.

Because the person that put this up probably has not a single clue about sports and just did a websearch or went to ESPN to see what stories were about.

Curling is very popular outside of the US and in some areas close to Canada. You did not have a problem with darts? l do not know the difference between handball and rachetball. The sports should be expanded though.
