do you already know any other board sports like surfing or anything?

l do not really know New Hampshire well but l know snowboarding. The only resort in NH I've been to is Attitash & it was fun, a little small but not bad at all.

Snowboarding is not hard to learn at all. Be sure to take a lesson or two on ur first day, it will help more than u realize. Also, gear is important. You're going to need sunglasses & sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun. A good pair of socks & long underwear that r NOT made out of cotten. l like wool socks & a polypro-like material for underwear. Water proof pants & a good warm set of gloves & u will be set. Depending on the weather (and l highly recommend a nice sunny day for learning) u may need more insulating layers or a heavier coat. Goggles r essential if it is snowing.

What has any of that got to do with learning how to snowboard? It is simple, if u r warm, dry, comfortable & can see u will be able to focus better on learning to ride. That, & u will be a lot happier. There is nothing worse than cold wet toes, frozen fingers, a soggy butt & being blinded by the sun.

Another important piece of gear that is often overlooked by first time snowboarders r wrist guards. A broken wrist is, unfortunately, a very common injury for first time boarders. A good, low-profile wrist guard will fit under ur gloves & many resorts rent them these days.

And, sad to say, Snowboarding (and skiing as well for that matter) is not a cheap sport to pick up. If u decide to become a snowboarder we're talking between $500 to $1000 (or much much more) to get u set up with ur own equipment (board, boots, bindings, pants, goggles, gloves etc). Once u r set up it is not too expensive but u do have to buy lift tickets which vary in price from resort to resort. If u pick a ''home'' mountain & plan to snowboard alot then a season pass is the best bet & they usually pay themselves off between 10-20 visits. For ur first few times be sure to go with the resort learning packages. For example, Attitash has a ''First Experience'' package that offers rentals (board & boots), a lift ticket & a lesson for $85.
This is a deal when u consider that an adult lift ticket is $59.

Good luck & have fun.

no snowboarding is really easy after you're not afraid of the slope
l have never been to new Hampshire so can not help you there
and the snowboard is cheap compared to the cost of the ski lift
