You unhook one foot when you get on and off the lift so you can push yourself along.

If u r new to the sport, u may not have heard of a snowboard stomp pad. Though not a requirement in snowboarding, ur snowboard stomp pad is a nice luxury to have & can add to the safety of ur day on the slopes. To help u out, then, here is a little bit about stomp pads & how to properly use them.

First, u need to know what a snowboard stomp pad is. When u r snowboarding, u ride the lift with only one ur front foot in the binding, right? When u get off, u have to ride ur back foot just on the board until u can stop & put ur binding on. However, with fiberglass boards, ur back foot may slip around as u try to make turns. A snowboard stomp pad, though, is a place where u can put ur rear foot & get a little traction. That way, u can steer a little more easily as u get off the lift & look for a good place to stop & get into ur bindings.

To use ur stomp pad, it should be located along the rear binding & on the inside of ur board. Yours will likely apply the way u do a sticker; just take off the backing & press it onto ur snowboard. Once applied, u should be able to put ur foot next to the rear binding & be on the stomp pad.

As u can see, the snowboard stomp pad is not a necessity for snowboarding, but it sure can make things easier. By allowing u to steer more easily as u look for a clearing as u come off the chair lift, ur snowboard pad is a valuable piece of equipment for both convenience & safety.
