It depends. Some people like skiing better and some people like snowboarding better. l like skiing better. Skiing is easier to learn when you first start out but snowboarding is easier to get better at later on. You could always try one and if you do not like it then you could always switch. Hope this helps.

It depends who u are, if u have done one or the other in the past, & where u are.
Most of the people l know who were not very good skiers who have tried snowboarding, have switched to snowboarding for good. However, those l know who were good skiers tended to stick to skiing. Those l know who were extraordinarly good skiers tend to do both, because they get bored with being so good at skiing.
As for where u are, there r some places that r great for snowboarding but bad (or boring) for skiing. The opposite is also true, there r some places that r great for skiing, but horrible for boarding.this usually has to do with the fact that traversing for a long time is hard on a snowboard, but relatively easy on skis.but either way, it allows skiers to hit great stashes of snow that snowboarders can only long about. Not to mention that most snowboarders l know hate moguls
As for who u are, it depends on what type of skiing/boarding u want to do. Park, moguls, powder, groomers, jumps, steeps, trees, etc.
Basically l like to ski certain parts of a mountain & board other parts of the mountain. l like skiing better, but only because l have been doing it longer.

l have done both and l would answer your question with a question. How adventerous are you? Snowboarding is more trendy and offers a bigger sense of adventure, skiing is passe and should be on exhibit in a museum.

That is like asking which is better: checkers or chess?

They both have great attributes, they both take lots of athletic ability, and cool people do them both.

It is just about personality. What do you prefer? Try them both.

l like skiing, but l also can snowboard a little.

l hate it when people post one-word without giving some thought!

As the name implies, l am a skier. Skiers & snowboarders r very different skill levels, & while skiers tend to rip up the race course or the headwalls, snowboarders stick to the terrain park. In a race course, skiers r unrivaled. Snowboarders r often about ten seconds behind. In a world where medals r won & lost by thousandths of a second, ten seconds is a whole lot.

On the headwalls, the good skiers & good snowboarders share glory, none is truely better than the other. In the terrain park, it is mostly snowboarders. But l know skiers that r landing 720 degree spins & flips, too. Skiers have a hold on all three major areas of the mountain. l personally love skiing because of the thrill & exhiliration the speed gives you. It is unrivaled, because as someone previously noted, snowboarders can not keep up long distances. For a skier, it is pure bliss to just ski long stretches with nothing stopping you.

snowboarding by far l think its just easier to be strapped into one board instead of having one strapped to each foot.you dont have to worry about the clumsy poles also! the only problem is when you get to a flat area =(
Outlaw     Reply with quote
poles are only clumsy if you do not know how to pole plant. while l have not given much time to snowboarding l dont think l have to. skiing is the bomb (i am spoiled though, l got 140+ days in at alta last year), you can go so fast or just bounce around in deep powder. manditory straightlines are sick on skis and dont forget the near ground carve!!! agh only 103 days till next season.
