Hi, can you tell me your experiences with accepting ski instructor licences around the world (anywhere)? l have written to many resorts and they are not much interested in skill but in variety licences. It´s understandable, but l don´t have money to do them all. l want one universal. (can you advise me most universal existing licence?) Thanks.
Are you sure that BASl is anywhere else than in Britain?
(*accepted)
l don´t wanna be ironic but l don´t think so.

If you got a BAS l (British Association of Ski Instructors) license you can pretty much teach anywhere apparently.

There are different levels you can do. Well worth doing though!!!

Good luck

If u r planing on working in the US the only accredited instruction is with the PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America). To get certified go to ur local mountain or Check With the PSIA for clinics around you. There r several ways to get ur level 1 cert. In house, while u r working is the easiest & most cost effective way to go about it. Start as a non cert or a cert in training & let the Ski school director know that u r looking to get certified & ur chances of getting hired go way up. Ski schools r looking for people that actually want to do this & teach people about the love of skiing & boarding. Be professional & go into like any other job. Its just way more fun then working at McDonald's. Good luck

l do not instruct anymore. l just like to ski. But when l did, the smaller areas (mostly in the eastern US) do not require a PSIA cert. You just go through some small training activities, & u can instruct.

All of the big resorts in America require at least PSIA level 1.

Which does not really make sense.actually. l saw so many people with certs, & they could not EXPLAIN how to ski to their students. Oh, they tried, but they could not connect, they did not know how to explain it to the lay person.

l loved instructing, but l got turned off from it because of the '' l am better than u attitude'' the certified folks carried around. By no means all of them, but l was a much better teacher than most of them.

The certification process should not be about ur ability to mold a turn to an ideal, but how well can u SHOW & EXPLAIN the sequences. That is one reason l quit.besides, l just like to ski!

There is no global cert process that l know of. Each country has their own system. If u get certified in one country though, there r usually instructor exchange programs, & u can teach at a sister resort in another country under ur own cert. Although u may have to get the local cert as well, l am sure the ski school director would have a way for u to do that easily.
