I am not saying gold, but maybe bronze and possibly silver.
These four people have athletic ability.
l wo not insult Curling by saying it is possible to do without coaching. So there has to be a qualified coach.

dude, u have clearly never curled. it takes some people a couple of years to learn how to stay upright in their delivery without dragging their back knee or toppling over.

in all honesty, ur proposal would be next to impossible. l know that many people think that it looks really easy.. a couple hours on the ice would change their minds.

i have played a number of sports quite competitively over the years & l took to baseball, volleyball, basketball & squash a lot quicker than l did to curling.. maybe it was the ice factor but seriously, it takes a tremendous amount of practice & skill to execute physically & many, many years to learn the strategy.

Depending on what country u live in, it may be easier to get to the worlds in two years with a coach. only because some countries hav not developed their game yet. However l am not saying it is impossible(because anything can happen) but it is unlikley that u would ever finish in the medals, at a world or olympic event in 2 years. There r too many excellent curling teams that have put years & years into their games, & have curled against the best too many times. And the best countries in the world, like Canada, Germany, Norway, England, & now the USA, have built up their curling programs. it would take several years of curling with the best & a top coach, to even make it to nationals.
However l do not want to discourage u from trying the game, because there r many levels of competitive curling that many curlers enjoy, starting with ur curling club, & bonspiels, & such.So l would say that if u had four athletic people, & u added a really good coach, & u played in all the major cashspiels, & went in ur zone(state)playdowns, MAYBE it is possible to reach medal status in about 10-15 years.
Good Luck in ur Quest.

Aside from the technical aspects of actually sliding rocks down the ice, it takes a long time to aquire strategic depth & ice-reading ability. A coach can help with strategy, but there is no substitute for experience when it comes to reading a sheet a of ice. Hence u just do not see too many skips or mates under 30 years of age or so at the very top level of the game. It usually takes 10 or 15 years of experience to become a really good curler.

The ice conditions in a crowded arena can change much more quickly than in club play & of course there is a lot of pressure in the Olympics. That means the curlers who have a lot of experience in national, major cashspiel & world level play have a big edge in the Olympics, even if they would not necessarily win their own club playdowns. But do not let that discourage u from curling, it is a lot of fun even just at the club level.

Anything might be possible but not probable. Curling appears to be one of those games that requires a lot of experience. But.if some really talented athletes gave it two full years 8 - 10 hours a day..who knows.

Of course there is all that beer.

well l think you should get a coach to tell you what you are doing wrong so that next time you can improve yourself.
