To start all you need are skates. There technically is no age to start but most kids start between 3 and 7. But there are still some people that are from ages 8 to 13 that start.

To start out in skating it is not expensive but the higher the level, the more expensive it can get. You should have a professional coach if you want to compete and get really good. I'd advice you to wear spandex pants or a skating dress.
